Recently those things have been getting my attention. They were much more frequent than I noticed before. When we are rejected or persecuted by the world around us we tend to have a pity party. We should realize that if we have Christ living and working in us it will be Him that is being persecuted. We should make certain that we don’t suffer rejection because of something we have done wrong. When we are rejected because we are serving Christ we are blessed. Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. If we are not suffering some persecution we are not living Godly in Christ Jesus. The plots against Him (that sometimes seem to be against us) will go on until He returns. I shall list the plots and plans, plots and persecution against Jesus mainly in the book of John in order to avoid duplication. It seems that most of the attacks were reported in the book of John. That is significant because the book of John teaches more about the Diety of Christ than the other gospels. I believe attacks on Jesus are primarily made BECAUSE HE IS GOD. Unbelievers are not as violently opposed to having a King, a servant or a perfect man as they are opposed to having someone who will rule and reign in their hearts and lives. I trust these passages will make you more aware of what He suffered even before His crucifixion. John 5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. |
